Rich Whitney, the Green Party candidate for Illinois Governor, and Dorian
Breuer, the Green Party candidate for State Senator in the 1st District,
will be receiving the commendation of Affordable Power to the People, at a
joint press conference in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood this
morning. Also present will be several families, who have recently had their
utilities cut off, as the chill of winter quickly approaches.

Both candidates support the protection of elderly, low-income, and other
fixed-income taxpayers in the form of a law that places a ceiling on the
amount of their utility bills, as a fixed percentage of their total income,
as well as preventing their gas from being shut off in the winter. "I would
rather freeze utility rates than see people freeze this winter," said
Whitney.

The press conference will be held at 11:00am this morning, at the Immaculate
Heart of Mary Church, at 40th and Wood St., in Chicago's Back of the Yards
neighborhood. This will be Whitney's last campaign appearance in Chicago,
with the exception of a joint appearance with Don Gordon, independent
candidate for 49th Ward Alderman, at Gordon's campaign office, at 1:00pm
this afternoon, which will be open to the public.

Whitney will also be discussing his comprehensive proposal for ethics
reform, his campaign, and the need to vote Green, at both events.

On Tuesday, Whitney will be voting at 10:00am at the Southern Illinois
Airport (his local precinct) in Carbondale; but he will be available on a
first come first serve basis for media interviews throughout the day
tomorrow, on Monday. Please call Dave Sacks at 773-557-9411 to schedule.

Rich Whitney will appear on the General Election ballot Tuesday, as the
Green Party's candidate for Illinois Governor. He was recently endorsed by
the Rockford Register Star, and the most recent Zogby/Wall Street Journal
poll showed him at 16% support. Dorian Breuer is a former member of the
Board of Directors of the Illinois Citizens' Utility Board and has recently
been endorsed by both the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune.
