October 13-14, 2007, McHenry County College, Crystal Lake


The Illinois Green Party is pleased to announce its Fall 2007 Membership Meeting will double as a Regional Campaign School for Greens across the region. Brent McMillan, Political Director for the Green Party of the United States, will be the featured presenter at the Campaign School. Declared candidates for the Green Party nomination for President are also invited for the weekend.

Cost and Food

The requested donation for the Meeting/School is $25 per participant, $10 for students and low-income members. Nobody will be denied entry due to inability to pay. The requested donation for the Saturday dinner is $25, $10 for students and low-income members. The Saturday dinner will be a pasta bar including vegan and other vegetarian options.

Saturday and Sunday morning sessions will have coffee and tea available. For Saturday and Sunday lunches, participants are on their own; we will have menus on hand and will be arranging coordinated pickups for sandwiches and other lunch foods.

Transportation, Parking and Lodging


Crystal Lake is accessible via the Metra rail system. The first Saturday Metra train to Crystal Lake arrives shortly before 10 a.m. and arrangements will be made to get people from the Metra station to McHenry County College. When you register for the meeting, note that you may need transportation from the station to the college, and you will receive a followup.

McHenry County College is located at 8900 U.S. Highway 14 at the northwest tip of Crystal Lake, just NW of the intersection of U.S. 14 and Illinois 176. U.S. 14 heads northwest to Woodstock and southeast to Arlington Heights and eventually the north side of Chicago. Illinois 176 runs west to Marengo and east to Mundelein. The other primary roads entering Crystal Lake are Illinois 31 which goes south to Elgin and Randall Road, which also runs south to Elgin. If you need assistance planning your route to the meeting, please contact Terry Campbell.

The MCC Conference Center is the blue Building B on the campus map available at www.mchenry.edu/Maps/index.asp and park in Lot B which is the first parking lot you will see when approaching the college on U.S. 14 from the southeast.

We have a very limited number of rooms reserved at the Crystal Lake Super 8, 577 Crystal Point Drive, 815-788-8888. Tell them you want to reserve rooms with the Illinois Green Party block as soon as possible! The Super 8 is located 4 miles southwest of the college. There are also a Comfort Inn, Country Inn and Suites, and Holiday Inn is close proximity to the Super 8. If you need any assistance with lodging, please contact Terry Campbell.
