Pull the Historic Green Party Ballot on February 5!

For the first time in Illinois history, there will be a Green Party primary ballot available to all six million registered voters in Illinois!


If you encounter any problems with ballot availability, harassment, or other inconsistencies, report it to the following authorities:

1. Election Protection Coalition: (866) 687-8683

2. Contact the Illinois Attorney General's office:

    • Northern Illinois (north of I-80) (866) 536-3496,
    • South and Central Illinois (south of I-80) (866) 559-6812.

3. Illinois Board of Elections hotline:

    • Chicago and Collar Counties: (312) 263-7367
    • Everywhere else in Illinois: (217) 782-4141
    • For the hearing impaired: (217) 782-1518

Please tell us about your polling place experience:

ILGP is collecting all reports of irregularities at the polls.  In fact, please send us an e-mail at election-problems@ilgp.org IN ANY CASE, saying whether the Green Party ballot was treated equally at your polling place.  Use this check list:

  1.  County: _____

  3.  How were the ballots offered verbally?
  __a.  "Which ballot do you want?"  (No names given.)
  __b.  "Do you want __, __, or __?"  (All three
        names given.)
  __c.  "Do you want __, or __?"  (Only two parties
        named, excluding Green.)
  __d.  Other: _____

  4.  How were the ballots displayed visually?
  __a.  Side by side, equally.
  __b.  D and R ballots more prominent, Green visible,
  
        but off to the side.
  __c.  Green ballot not visible.
  __d.  Other: _____

  5.  You signed an application form for your ballot.
 
      How did it look?
  __a.  All three party names printed on the form.
  __b.  Only "Democratic" and "Republican" printed; the Green voter has to check "Other" and write "Green".

For the vast majority of precincts, February 5th will be the first time a Green primary ballot will be available. The Illinois Green Party has contacted election authorities reminding them that they must offer all ballots to voters. However, Greens may encounter some inconsistencies on Election Day. When you arrive at the polling place, specimen ballots of each established party should be posted. You should be asked to state your name, residence, and party affiliation. The primary judge should then announce this information loud enough for all persons in the polling place to hear.
