The State Central Committee of an established political party is a statutory committee authorized by the Illinois Election Code (Sec. 7-7) and elected by primary voters in the same years as the gubernatorial elections. Its main responsibility is to fill vacancies in nomination for statewide offices. The Code provides for one committeeman and one committeewoman from each congressional district.
