Group of over 100 publications reorganized into three divisions and renamed Sun-Times News Group.
Hollinger International has announced a new divisional structure and related management changes for its group of more than 100 publications and Internet properties across greater Chicago. In connection with these changes, the Chicago Group has been renamed The Sun-Times News Group.
The group claims its strategic plan focuses on maintaining and building the identity of its local publications. As part of this plan, the group will be reorganized into the following three divisions:
- Metro
- Includes The Chicago Sun-Times and its related Internet properties.
- North
- Includes the nearly 60 titles of Pioneer Newspapers, as well as The Waukegan News Sun, News Sun Plus, and La Luz.
- South
- Formed from the merger of Fox Valley Publications with Midwest Suburban Publishing. Includes the Midwest Suburban, The Southtown, and The Star. The Post- Tribune in Northwest Indiana will become part of this division in the future.
