House Bill 672 Becomes Law
Law allows local governments in Illinois to regulate smoking in public places.
House Bill 672 was signed by Governor Blagojevich and became Public Law 94-517 yesterday. The law amends the Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act and allows home rule units of local government to regulate smoking in public places by ordinance. Regulation may not be less restrictive than the existing protections in the Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act. The full text of the new law is available:
