Voter registration bill

by admin last modified 2005-10-23 21:44

The Midwest Democracy Center encourages progressive groups to support SB2133, a voter registration bill soon to be considered by Governor Blagojevich.

[Here is the message from Dan Johnson-Weinberger of 1 Dec 2004]

Please pass this URL onto lists and allies who want to see voter registration improve in Illinois:

http://www.djw.info/SB2133.htm

The page lays out the details of the grace period voter registration bill that our Kit Pfau Voting Rights Award winner Representative Robin Kelly (D-Matteson) passed during the veto session, and gives people a chance to contact Governor Blagojevich asking him to sign the bill.

It is also important that people begin to learn the details of the new system to minimize confusion in 2006 (assuming enough of us convince Governor Blagojevich to sign the bill).

I am a little concerned about Governor Blagojevich, so please do forward this site widely. I encourage you to send any letters on behalf of any organizations you belong to as well.

IVI-IPO should take pride in this bill -- so let's put in some work now to make sure it gets signed into law.
